Yamaneko

In Yamaneko’s world, things are rarely as they seem.

On the London-based artist’s debut album Pixel Wave Embrace, he deals in illusions: although water is a prominent influence on the record, it’s not found in the places you’d expect (‘Seabrooke Rise’ and ‘Primrose Island’ have little to do with water), and despite grime being a major influence, there are no classic Plugsounds or samples from grime records here. Instead, he sources sounds from the places you’d least expect, often drawing from his love of ambient records, new age tapes and OSTs. He also produces as Talbot Fade, releasing the November Versions album at the end of 2015.
