Lil Jabba is a genius, this much we know. He was raised in Australia but gathered attention as an artist while living between Baltimore and Brooklyn, gaining support from the legendary DJ Rashad for the hypnotic approach to footwork seen on his early trax and debut album Scales. As well as a musician, he’s a painter and visual artist: his work has been featured in Vogue and he’s designed record sleeves for the Halcyon Veil label.
On his more recent releases Keep and 47, Jabba relies less on footwork patterns than before, honing a unique approach to electronic music that draws from hip-hop, jungle, IDM and more but never loses touch of the incredible, simple melodies that he’s always had in his locker. He makes slippery music straight from the swamp, and pulls you further into his world with every track.
